Apple have gone on the offensive with a new set of TV ads to support the launch of Snow Leopard this Friday, getting some early blows in. The adverts focus on the perceived weakness of Windows, the ‘thousands of viruses and tons of headaches’.

Personally as a Windows user I get a bit tired of this (old) argument from Mac users. Most hackers develop viruses for financial gain, so they are obviously going to focus on developing viruses for the OS with most users. Also, securing Windows machines is very easy and hardly a difficult thing to do -- just install a decent security package.

I can’t wait for Microsoft’s next retort as the last couple of campaigns, particularly the ‘I’m A PC’ campaign were very well executed and were a perfect counter to Apple’s ‘cool’ ads.
