|
|
Sometimes you have to RIS a workstation several times a day during application and patch testing. Building the workstation several times can cause issues with domain resources. I have run across a blue screen several times that explains that there is an IP conflict with another machine and the setup cannot continue. I looked in DHCP and could not find an address that matched the IP my machine was assigned. Since there was not a resource with that assigned IP address, I tested a few solutions and this seems to work the best for me. To resolve this issue follow the steps below to get back on track.
1. Open the Active Directory Users and Computers MMC console. Search for the workstation name given to your workstation. Delete the workstation name from Active Directory.
2. Log into the workstation as a local administrator. Open a command prompt and run “ipconfig /release”. Do not renew the DHCP address.
3. Reboot the workstation and the RIS process should run normally.
Note: This solution will only work if the workstation has previously been successfully added to the domain. |
