Hello,
This is a short but strongly recommended advise when it comes to browsing the internet and increase your security. We've been testing quite some browsers and security/privacy combinations which come in the shape of plugins or native settings.
We've concluded that the best browser to use in most situations is Firefox in combination with the NoScript plugin. Ofcourse you're free to add more security / privacy enhancements by using additional plugins and the like.
This will increase safe surfing and your privacy. The NS (NoScript) plugin allows you to control which websites you trust with certain settings and which you don't trust by default. In general a global restriction should be all the time active and only websites you trust can be easily set as an exception.
Unlike what is claimed by many unexperienced privacy providers or those who just got into the world of running such service, it is extremely important to not only rely just on the service and forget about a virusscanner, anti-spyware solutions etc. That is why we always strongly recommend that it takes two for good security.
In general, the weakest link when surfing the internet is for example the browser you're using and all the fancy features enabled by default. Your secure connection will protect you from many dangers, but malicious websites can use an unsecure browser (configuration) against you as entrypoint. Although we ourselves have implemented heavy security and configurations beyond the average, it still doesn't mean you never need to think of your own software on your computer !
You are probably familiar with the endless websites who can detect the IP of the visitor, some "loud" privacy providers love to scare their visitors by flashing and poppingup how unsecure they are and how, by miracle, their service will protect them 100 % from everything. Our advise is to think twice about such services using these tactics. It's mostly sales and scaring people that they're by default totally unsecure and must buy that service. We rather like to remain with facts, experience and good neutral advise to people even if a totally other service would be recommended than our own !
The following steps are a few of the many you can take to secure your browser and not let it remain the weakest link:
- recommended is to use Firefox
- use the NoScript plugin and only allow websites you trust
- keep your browser up2date
- explore your browser, learn about it and use it correctly
- do not blindly accept or click yes whenever a popup occurs
- turn off especially Java and only on for specific websites
- Flash, Quicktime and others can also be abused by malicious websites to compromise your system
Last but not least, especially when using our services, feel free to visit websites which can help you to see what information is shown and what is not shown about your browser and related. We recommend to use websites which are neutral and avoid commercial websites which will usually by default try to scare you into buying their service showing all kinds of biased information and warnings.
Here are some very useful links to start with:

And more if you google a bit !
We hope this was useful information for you and will at least enable you to think about your privacy and security while surfing the internet.
Kind regards,
