| Britain's National Hi-Tech Crime Unit (NHTCU) is investigating a denial of service attack against the Greater Manchester Police (GMP). The attacker flooded chief constable Michael Todd with over 2,000 e-mails an hour in an apparent attempt to crash police computer systems. The e-mails had a spoof sender address implicating US President George W. Bush in the attack and warning Chief Todd that the sender knew where he and his family live. The GMP investigated the attacks once they began in May 2005, but called the NHTCU when they were unable to find any leads. |
