I am sure you have already read about the upcoming Internet Explorer browser that is aimed to improve the security of some key components in its next release. And what is better is that we do not have wait for the long promised "Longhorn", which won't make its first appearance until the end of next year.

So it has been announced by Redmond even before Longhorn hits, Microsoft will add several security enhancements to IE 7.0, which by the way is due in beta this summer. Throughout the most notable features are the prevention of cross-domain scripting, and the default mode set with a reduced privilege level to help prevent attackers from using IE as a stepping-off point for other attacks.
A secondary new feature could be the integration with Microsoft's anti-spyware technology, which is currently in beta.

Considering the trouble Microsoft had in Europe with the browser-OS coupling. For some folks an isolation would be plain simply ironic. IE was integrated with the operating system, and if something compromised IE, it had easy access and hooks into Windows. That is too much , you would say but considering that IE is probably one of the most-used products and has the most access to untrusted systems on the Internet, would not make sense to have it tight right into the OS?

I am anxiously waiting for the beta version of IE 7 to test in a lab environment!
