| There is an interesting new feature of Windows 2000 called Automatic IP Addressing. It is only used in the instance where a Windows 2000 computer is configured for DHCP, and no DHCP server can be located. If no DHCP server can be found when it starts, the computer will assign itself an IP Address in the Class B range of 169.254.0.0 with a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0. |
