PPTP-linux allows you to connect to a PPTP server from a Linux or other Unix box (ports of pptp-linux to other Unix variants should be trivial, but have not yet been performed). See my IPfwd page for information on tunneling PPTP through Linux firewalls.

More information on the PPTP protocol can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/backoffice/communications/pptp.htm. The PPTP specification draft is included in the PPTP-linux distribution, but can also be found at http://www.microsoft.com/backoffice/communications/exes/draft-ietf-pppext-pptp-01.txt.
