Microsoft, and other software vendors, have been packing more and more auto-update features into their software. This can be great, or it can be a nuisance, depending on your outlook. Sometimes you can disable these features. With Windows Media Player, you can disable the auto-update feature by creating this Registry entry: #gB3 {float:none;clear:none;}
Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Key: SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\ WindowsMediaPlayer
Name: DisableAutoUpdate
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 00000001
Of course, you should always backup the Registry and use caution when proceeding with any changes |
