By default, the XP Windows Update site will scan your system for updates, and offer to download and install only updates that it thinks have not been applied to your computer. But what if you want to re-apply updates, or need an update that it thinks is already applied? You will have to find and download it manually.
In order to even see those updates, however, you will have to "personalize" the Update site so that you can see them. To do this, go to Windows Update (Start -> All Programs -> Windows Update) and look along the left side under Other Options, and click on the link "Personalize Windows Update." Then check the box (click) next to "Display the link to the Windows Update Catalog under See Also." Click the Save Settings button, and now along the left side you will have a new Windows Update Catalog link under See Also. Clicking that link will allow you to display and select any Windows Update for download. |
