This is a true and personal story.
Yesterday I reinstalled XP in a friend's box.
After the setup was completed, I open Internet Explorer to search for the lyric of "Creep" - "Radiohead" because my friend had just downloaded the song and we were playing guitar.
Anyways, stupid mistake... I only went to Google and searched for the topic I was looking for... on the first page I click on 3 pages that were showing the content of my search.
The computer all of sudden froze up and nothing worked. I open task manager and try to shutdown the application that were not responding. After a while, I finally got it.
I open Add/Remove programs and that was my surprise. About 6 or 8 new programs were installed without being asked for it. Trying to unistalled them, the screen froze up many times because of the feature to unistalling opening IE again and going to their website.

Finally after I got it, I look at the desktop and found that it was full of new icons(amazing shit), and then opening IE again, I noticed 3 new bars installed and multiple windows opening.
Right away I donwloaed Firefox and one of the problems is solved, then Adaware, Spybot and CCleaner. I ran all of them, cleaned the system a little bit, but I still can't use IE... it opens multiple windows and on Program Files folder, I can't delete the entries that were created when the browser was hijacked.

This story is just to show you all that how fast you can get infected and don't even notice what it's going on on your computer.

Resuming, I will renistall XP and then install Firefox. So I can browse the net with no problems.
