Kishan Singh, 33, of Lanham, Maryland has been sentenced to 18 months in prison and ordered to forfeit his computer equipment. Mr. Singh pleaded guilty to copyright infringement on October 14, 2004, after operating a pay-for-access website offering pirated copies of business software, including titles by Adobe, Autodesk, Macromedia, and Microsoft. The prosecutor’s office said thousands of pirated software programs were downloaded from Mr. Singh’s website during a six-month period, and estimated the value of the software at between $70,000 and $120,000.
