The UK's controversial ID Card Bill has passed through the House of Commons by a vote of 224 to 64. Labour MPs and Liberal Democrats voted against the legislation, but the Tories, who had earlier opposed the bill, said they would support the legislation. Despite receiving an overwhelming majority vote, the Tories in the House of Lords are expected to slow the bill down in that body. This may delay the bill until the upcoming general election, effectively killing it.
