Do you have to create a riprep image for every different version of hal.dll you have?
I have found that I do in order to guarantee that it will work.(but I only image servers) We rely heavily on scripted installs for workstations that can do full hal detection. Images are only used when multiple identical units are being deployed. There are guys that claim they can create generic images but I believe even those solutions have their limits. It is hit and miss and very dependant on the type of hardware you are trying to support. I have heard that if all your devices use the newer ACPI UNI Processor, one image will work for all of these. Unfortunately most of us have to support environments with many different HALs making the current imaging technology difficult to maintain and leverage.
RIS is HAL-blind. You need to force the HAL in the unattend.txt or sysprep( orriprep).inf file. |
